As King of Prussia continues its rapid growth, developers and local officials are hoping to persuade some of its 60,000 workers to move to the area, writes Jessica Kartalija for CBS Philly.

King of Prussia has long been considered a Mecca of shopping. Today however, thousands of residential units are popping up in areas that were business only.

For example, the former King of Prussia Business Park has transformed into Moore Park. This now pairs traditional office buildings with new multi-family housing.

“The opportunity to live and work in the same neighborhood is something that KOP really has not had in its history,” said King of Prussia District Executive Director Eric Goldstein.

Future plans for the area include the First Avenue Linear Park as well as the proposed extension of the Norristown High-Speed Rail.

However, even with all the construction, the area’s namesake, The King of Prussia Inning built in 1709, is still standing. To escape demolition, the Inn was moved to its current location in the late nineties and has been the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s headquarters ever since.
