At 10:30, Lisa Schmidt, creator of Adult Amateur Dressage Access (www.aadressageaccess.com) returns to facilitate a discussion targeted to Adult Amateurs. She will be there to answer questions and present the challenges faced by adult amateurs in the current – and future – dressage environment.

Following Lisa, Nancy Williams, DAD Board Member and a partner with the law firm of Kleinbard LLC (Philadelphia, PA), will address the business end of dressage, from real estate to insurance, finance, and equine law.

New at Dressage Explorers

Lendon Gray, founder of Dressage4Kids will join the Explorers in the afternoon to watch top junior rider classes and answer questions about the rides, the riders and the horses, helping Explorers understand what goes into a winning ride.

Jessica Fay, Assistant Trainer at Hill Top Farm, will talk to Explorers about the “unconventional” horses she has ridden and how she handled the challenges they presented.

Diamonds, Denim and Dressage

Ladies Hat Day (Friday September 27) is new and different. This year the contest will take place on Friday evening, at 6 pm with guest judges who will be awarding some great prizes to not only the best Ladies Hat award, but the Best Dressed Man and Best Dressed Family.

The contest is followed at 630 by Diamonds, Denim and Dressage cocktail party fundraiser. Live music, tasty food and great company. To purchase tickets, visit www.dressageatdevon.org.CocktailParty (note: url is case sensitive)

Silent Auction

More than 50 items will be on display for the new Silent Auction. Featured is an original oil painting by local artist, William Ewing, in a custom frame hand carved by his wife Mary! Come see this equestrian themed masterpiece for yourself!

Equestrian Gymnastics:
Vaulting

For more than 2,000 years, people have been performing equestrian vaulting or dance-like movements on or over the backs of moving horses. Some people trace the origins of vaulting to the ancient Roman games where acrobats would demonstrate their skills on cantering horses. Others trace the history of vaulting to ancient Crete where bull-leaping was prevalent!

Whatever its roots, modern vaulting is fun and exciting. This year, Fleur de Lis Vaulters from Kentucky will perform in the Dixon Oval during the breaks on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Don’t miss it!

The 2019 Dressage at Devon (www.dressageatdevon.org) will take place September 24-September 29 at the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA. For reserved seating, visit dressageatdevon.org/box-office.
