SAPA-GP holds annual conference in King of Prussia

Despite recent breakthroughs in the pharmaceutical industry, there are still significant unmet medical needs around the world.

On May 31st, 2019, Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association-Greater Philadelphia (SAPA-GP), a non-profit professional organization in Philadelphia area, brought global researchers, business leaders, and investors together at its 17th Annual Conference in King of Prussia at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel, with the common goal to advance global life sciences and pharmaceutical innovations.

The Annual Conference attracted more than 500 attendees, including many top researchers, investors, CEOs emerging start-ups, and executives major global pharmaceutical companies such as Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and WuXi AppTec.

Topics of discussions covered immunology renaissance, gene therapy, transformational therapeutic modality, innovative clinical trial design, business development and strategic partnership, cross border investment, healthcare advocacy, and career development.

Both Dr Han Dai, President of SAPA-GP, and Dr Jing Yang, President-elect of SAPA-GP, emphasized the importance of collaborations between the US, the world leading pharmaceutical player, and China, the fastest growing market, to find win-win solutions that foster sustainable development so that patients across the world can benefit from innovative therapies.

Dr Cynthia Cai, Senior Advisor at Northern Light Venture Capital, discussed opportunities and challenges in healthcare sector investment under the current environment. Dr Chari Cohen, Senior Vice President from Hepatitis B Foundation and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center, discussed the involvement of patient voices into drug development processes. She believes that the SAPA-GP Annual Conference will not only help recruit more advocates but also create collaboration opportunities between attendees.
