As Souderton-based Univest continues to evolve, earlier this year, it changed its name to Univest Financial Corporation, which remains the parent company of Univest Bank and Trust Co. With a long history spanning 143 years, it was time for the parent company name to reflect its expanding market and emphasize its focus on delivering comprehensive financial solutions.

Diversification of its business has been key to Univest’s long-term success. As it grew over the years, Univest evolved into a comprehensive provider of financial solutions. Today, the company’s banking, insurance, mortgage banking, wealth management, and equipment financing lines do business in multiple states, and the corporation has approximately $5.0 billion in total assets and $3.6 billion in assets under management and supervision through Girard, its wealth management division.

Though the name has changed subtly and the communities it serves is expanding, Univest remains deeply rooted in the communities it serves, especially its core market of Montgomery County, where it was founded in 1876. Guided by its philanthropic promise, Univest donated more than $1.9 million in 2018. It is Univest’s employees who truly bring this spirit of service to life – together, they volunteered 18,705 hours last year. It is this employee volunteerism and financial support that serve as the foundation of Univest’s Committed To Local philanthropic giving program. In Montgomery County, it supports more than 200 nonprofits, including longstanding partnerships with Indian Creek Foundation, Montgomery Theater, Indian Valley Education Foundation, Living Branches, and Manna on Main Street.

“One of the best things about Univest is we are local – giving our customers access to local decision makers who live and work right here in the communities we serve,” said Jeff Schweitzer, CEO of Univest Financial Corporation. “This inspires us to live up to our mission of being a strong leader in our markets and active in our communities. Our long history is built on the foundation of five core values (tradition, integrity, excellence, community, and spirituality), and our employees continue to live out these values every day.”

Univest’s more than 840 employees deliver financial solutions through a network of more than 50 offices in southeastern Pennsylvania extending to the Lehigh Valley and Lancaster, as well as in New Jersey and Maryland.
