Aqua Pennsylvania promotes Montgomery County resident to treatment manager

Aqua America, a provider of water and wastewater services to approximately three million people, has several Montgomery County careers available.

Aqua Pennsylvania announced today that it has promoted David Rustay of Abington, Pennsylvania from the position of production specialist to treatment manager.

In his new role, Rustay will be responsible for water and wastewater treatment throughout Pennsylvania to ensure that all drinking water and wastewater discharge is treated sufficiently to comply with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. He also will provide technical guidance and advice on drinking water and wastewater quality, including future regulations, that might affect utility operations.

“David has played an important role in our Southeast Pennsylvania production department since joining the team three years ago,” said Aqua Pennsylvania Vice President of Production, Curt Steffy. “He is passionate about and committed to providing our customers with the safe and reliable drinking water they depend on and has the skills and experience to continue to excel at Aqua.”

Rustay joined Aqua in 2016 as an operator at the Neshaminy Creek water treatment plant, located in Bucks County. He was promoted to production specialist in 2017 with responsibility for assisting and advising operations staff on treatment optimization, creating and revising operating procedures, monitoring plant and distribution water quality, responding to on-call emergencies and recommending and implementing treatment capital improvements.

Rustay is a graduate of Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science and biology. He is a Class A Certified Water Operator in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
