Local woman receives highest academic award from Harcum College

Rebecca Bondi

A Kennett Square mother of two received the highest academic honor Harcum College confers on its graduates during recent commencement exercises.

Rebecca Bondi, who obtained an A.S. in Interior Design, was given the Academic Excellence Award by Trustee Denis Boyle for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her college career.

At Harcum, Bondi was a non-traditional student, who came to the college already possessing a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Her faculty said she “gives 100 percent to everything she does,” and her instructors said she excels at everything she does.

Heidi Techner, Director of the Interior Design Program, said Bondi is “incredibly thoughtful — a deep thinker — who spends a great deal of time researching her projects.”

Harcum confers four student awards every year at commencement. Bondi’s 4.0 bettered the GPAs of more than 400 graduating students this year.

In these fast-paced times, Harcum helps students build a bridge between who they are today and who they will be tomorrow, and its programs are geared toward the needs of the economy, the workplace, and society.
