Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is hoping to bring back the team’s old Kelly-green color as an alternate jersey by the 2020 season, writes Zach Berman for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“High priority,” said Lurie.

The question of bringing back the Eagles’ old color has been raised with the owner in recent years. However, the issue for the Eagles is that they are only allowed one helmet, and a uniform in Kelly green color would not work with the team’s midnight green helmets.

The team has even tried to push the NFL to allow for an alternate helmet, going as far as proposing a new resolution in 2017. Unfortunately, the league has not yet made the change. Currently, teams can change the decals on their helmets, but are not allowed to wear alternate helmets due to safety concerns.

The last time the Eagles wore Kelly green as their alternate jersey was in 2010, but the jersey has remained popular with fans over the years. In fact, one prominent player, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, asked for the return of the old color alternates in a tweet in February.
