Norristown Area School District takeover at Elmwood Park Zoo

On May 7, The Elmwood Park Zoo will be covered in blue and white, entirely reserved for students and chaperones of the Norristown Area School District.

What: Thanks to the Elmwood Park Zoo and its donors, first grade students from all six Norristown Area School District elementary schools will have the opportunity to visit the zoo for a first-of-its kind “Elementary Education Takeover” experience.


On Tuesday, May 7, Norristown Area School District will take over Elmwood Park Zoo, entirely reserved for our students and chaperones. This zoo experience is different from the usual buzz of activity, as one encounters numerous school groups of different ages visiting from all over the region. The takeover will include our blue and white being featured on banners and signs throughout the zoo. Zoo staff members and school chaperones will all be wearing special blue and white shirts commemorating the event, provided with the generous support of the Norristown Area Education Foundation.

Who: Over 650 first grade students from Norristown Area School District to participate in “Elementary Education Takeover” at Elmwood Park Zoo.

When: Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 10 am to 2 pm
