Five outstanding projects and a long-standing committee that has preserved an impressive amount of open space in Montgomery County received 2018 Montgomery Awards at the annual Montgomery awards celebration.

This annual program, which is in its 51st year, recognizes the best in planning, design, and advocacy in Montgomery County. It promotes awareness of outstanding design and innovative planning in our communities and acknowledges the high quality of work and commitment of communities, organizations, and professionals in contributing to these exceptional projects. 2018 Environmental Stewardship Award

A successful floodplain restoration and wetland creation project along the Andorra Creek awarded for controlling streambank erosion and sediment, reconnecting the channel to the surrounding land, and mitigating flooding. This project has restored much of the creek’s habitat and ecological function and has created an aesthetically pleasing environment.
