Biocoat, Inc., based in Horsham, partners with Adam Spence on an integrated solution to streamline development of reinforced catheters

A new strategic partnership between Biocoat, Inc. andAdam Spence, a Spectrum Plastics Group Company, will streamline the process of producing catheters used in vital vascular procedures, such as angioplasty, bypass surgery, fluid drainage, and other essential treatments.

The partnership allows Adam Spence’s innovative reinforced catheter shafts to receive Biocoat’s industry-leading hydrophilic coatings. Biocoat Inc. has facilities in Horsham. The two companies have also committed to sharing expertise on the development of new products to improve patient experiences. according to a submitted press release.

Founded in 1960, Adam Spence is a pioneer in the contract design and manufacture of medical device components. Today, the company produces custom products for many of the world’s leading medical device manufacturers.

The new partnership between Biocoat and Adam Spence capitalizes on the geographic proximity of the two organizations. Adam Spence develops and manufactures braid- and coil-reinforced delivery systems in Wall, NJ. Biocoat will apply and test its low-friction HYDAK® topcoat on these products at its nearby Horsham  facility. The two companies will share expertise in coated delivery systems – from development through full commercialization.
