Talks progressing in MD Anderson – Holy Redeemer partnership

Montgomery County health care provider Holy Redeemer Health System is in preliminary discussions with  MD Anderson Cancer Center regarding a partnership.

A spokesperson for Holy Redeemer, located in Abington, said the health system is now “working through the extensive partnership evaluation process.” Industry sources expect a deal to be finalized later this year, writes John George in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Holy Reedemer Hospital in Meadowbrook has a 30-bed inpatient medical/surgical unit for oncology patients and a 20,000-square-foot cancer center that houses a linear accelerator for radiation therapy and a dedicated PET/CT unit for both diagnostic and radiation therapy treatment planning.

MD Anderson, one the country’s leading providers of cancer care, already has a presence in the region through its partnership with Cooper University Healthcare in Camden. The partnership led to the creation of the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, which opened in 2013.
