It may not rival the goodies that stars and movers and shakers get in the swag bags given out at the Oscars, but the Super Bowl swag bag features local, cool items that remind all those lucky enough to snag one what Minnesota has to offer.

Some of the items picked by the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee include products from Winona-based J.R. Watkins, the maker of spices, lotions and home care products; Angie’s Artisan Treats, the makers of Angie’s Boomchickapop kettle corn; and St. Paul-based J.W. HulmeCo., which makes hand-crafted leather bags, wallets and accessories, writes Nick Williams in the St. Paul Business Journal.

The focus, of course is on local and Minnesota is using this opportunity to aim the spotlight on key manufacturers.

“For us, the Super Bowl has always been an opportunity to showcase the Bold North to the world, and this is an opportunity to put Minnesota companies in front of national influencers,” said Michael Howard, spokesperson for the Host Committee.
