Philadelphia has some catching up to do when it comes to its millennial appeal, writes Shannon Rooney for Philly.com.

The City of Brotherly Love ranked 56 on the recently released list of the 75 top metro areas across the country based on their attractiveness to millennials in terms of jobs, affordability, and livability.

To determine the overall ranking for all metro areas, Apartment List looked at a number of metrics for each of the main categories.

This included median wages and wage growth for jobs, median rents for affordability, access to parks, crime rates, and even the weather.

The ranking showed that while a number of metros offer two elements of great importance to millennials, very few can provide the trifecta of good jobs, affordable housing costs, and high livability scores.

According to the ranking, Philadelphia needs to work on all three categories, as it only attained a C grade overall.

The city’s best showing was in the livability category in 42nd place. It also came 51st for affordability, and 55th for jobs.

However socially, Philadelphia lived up to its mantle, ranking very highly in opportunities for dating and making friends.
