Bala Cynwyd’s Hamilton Lane is solidifying its presence in Australia by opening an office in Sydney, writes Jeff Blumenthal for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Hamilton Lane was founded 25 years ago and focuses on alternative investment management. It has offices in the United States, the UK, Israel, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and now Australia. Its 290 employees are responsible for $341 billion in assets under management or advisement.

The new office will be led by James Martin and aims to provide a more localized service for the firm’s growing client base in both Australia and New Zealand. This expansion follows the firm’s successful IPO in March which raised $203 million and follows hot on the heels of its June purchase of Real Asset Portfolio Management.

“We’ve been active in this region for nearly a decade, and are excited to be formally establishing a presence in Australia,” said Mario Giannini, Hamilton Lane’s CEO.

He added that he believes the new office will allow the firm to provide both a deeper level of market coverage and client service in the region.
