On Tuesday, Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood officially broke ground on a $52.8 million expansion and renovation project to triple the size of its emergency department, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The project will add 32,000-square-feet of new space and renovate around 15,800-square-feet. Once complete, the hospital’s emergency department will have 57 private treatment rooms and other new features including an expanded private check-in area.

Construction is expected to begin next month and end sometime in 2019. Lankenau’s emergency department will remain open during the work.
