Lifestory Research, a California market research firm, polled more than 50,000 new-home shoppers across the U.S. Respondents were asked to quantify how much or how little they trusted builders. Leah Draffen collected the responses and analyzed the results.

One downside became obvious: The pandemic bump in confidence surrounding the residential real estate construction business seems to have sagged as the healthcare crisis eased.

But in general, home builders are being held in reasonably good esteem.

For the eighth consecutive year, Taylor Morrison Homes in Scottsdale rose to first place among consumers.

The eighth slot went to Toll Brothers of Fort Washington.

Eric Snider, Lifestory Research president and chief research officer, said, “With limited housing inventory and price escalation, home buyers moderated their trust among builders in the new-home industry.

“However, while market dynamics influenced how people viewed the sector, the years of brand-building among the most trusted builders paid dividends.”

The complete list of firms recognized aside Toll Brothers is at Lifestory Research.
