Steve Goodman has been helping promising young entrepreneurs for decades, including Monetate’s Lucinda Duncalfe, writes Juliana Reyes for Technical.ly.

The CEO of the Conshohocken company got her first business, Destiny Software, off the ground in 1996 with Goodman’s help.

“Steve was one of two people who mentored me, made introductions, and taught me how the world worked,” Duncalfe told Technical.ly.

His input proved invaluable, helping Duncalfe become one of the most successful technology executives in the region. And Duncalfe is only one of the countless people who benefited from Goodman’s guidance.

“You name a successful startup story in Philadelphia in the last 30 years and Steve has been involved with them,” wrote Steve Welch, Dreamit Ventures Managing Partner, in his We Are All Born Entrepreneurs book.

Before the tech boom, Goodman was the front door of the Greater Philadelphia’s entrepreneurial community. He cultivated the startup scene in the region at a time when most people looked at them as money pits.

However, his persistence has paid off over last five decades, with the 76-year old now known as the godfather of Philadelphia startups.
