Unisys
Following the sale of its federal business, Blue Bell-based Unisys said during the company’s earning’s call it expects 2020 to be a year of transition.

The U.S. Army’s planned migration to cloud computing could be very profitable for Blue Bell’s Unisys, writes Michelle Caffrey for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Unisys is one of 50 companies participating in the Army Cloud Computing Enterprise Transformation Basic Ordering Agreement worth $247 million. ACCENT BOA is a three-year blanket purchasing agreement that allows enterprise applications used by the Army to move data into the cloud.

“This is huge for the Army,” said Jennifer Napper, vice president of department of defense and intelligence agencies at Unisys Federal and retired U.S. Army Major General.

The move to cloud computing is a part of federal government’s cloud-first policy. Companies that meet the Army’s standards were notified in February. Unisys believes it is “well-positioned to participate” in this project, as it has already migrated over 20 of the federal government’s civilian departments to the cloud.

“We’re very confident we know how to do this with all of the prerequisite security requirements for the government” said Napper.
