Bala Cynwyd Insurance Company Prepares for Third Annual Tree Planting Event

By

For the third year in a row, Bala Cynwyd’s Philadelphia Insurance Companies is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 80,000 trees.

Fifty PHLY employees traveled to Texas in January to complete the 2016 PHLY 80K Trees campaign.

With the help of TreeFolks and Texas Parks & Wildlife, the group planted the final 6,000 trees in Bastrop State Park which had recently been devastated by wildfires.

To help achieve this year’s goal, PHLY is looking to its independent agents and brokers as well as policyholders to help it with its paperless initiative.

For each new agent who agrees to the direct deposit of their commissions, PHLY will plant ten new trees.

Meanwhile, for each new policyholder that switches to electronic billing, PHLY will plant fifteen trees to acknowledge their support.

“Our employees who’ve volunteered to plant a portion of the 80,000 trees each of the last two years have called the experience ‘life-changing’,” said Bob O’Leary, President and CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies.

“The response from our employees, along with support from our customers, both agents and policyholders, has been incredible.”

However, according to the U.S. Forest Service, the job is not yet done, as there are still over one million acres in desperate need of replanting.
