Spring-Ford High School will soon be able to offer its student a new cutting edge MakerSpace learning environment thanks to a $15,000 donation by Ambler Savings Bank, writes Justin Heinze for Patch.

The district was presented with the check for the space in the senior high school’s media center by Erin Cohen, Ambler Savings Bank’s Retail Officer, and Becky Dice, its Limerick Branch’s Manager.

MakerSpace describes the learning environment as a space that combines manufacturing equipment, community, and education to give student’s more opportunities to design, prototype, and create pieces.

The space will include a multimedia room along with two private instruction rooms and places for group development. It will also include 3D printers along with sound, mixing and video equipment. The grand opening of the MakerSpace will be held during the 2017-18 school year.

“When I see and hear about all the technology and opportunities students today have, I am very excited and look forward to working with and learning from the next generation of business leaders,” said Cohen. “Programs like Spring-Ford’s MakerSpace will shape the way these students look at problems and come up with solutions in the future.”
