While Paratek Pharmaceuticals is headquartered in Boston, the company’s expansion is currently  focused on its King of Prussia office which has recently increased threefold to make way for new hires, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The biopharmaceutical company is keeping its location on First Avenue, but has moved into a significantly larger space to accommodate its growing research, manufacturing, and commercial operations.

“The move is a sign of our growth,” said Dr. Evan Loh, Paratek’s president, chief operating officer and chief medical officer. “We’ll now be able to bring in more local talent.”

Paratek, which develops antibiotic therapies, plans to add close to 65 employees over the next two years. The new personnel will help with the upcoming launch of the company’s lead product candidate, Omadacycline.

Omadacycline is a potential oral and IV medicine for skin infections and pneumonia that is also being considered as a therapy for urinary tract infections by Paratek. The company is hoping to submit an additional FDA application for this early next year.

“Paratek’s expanded presence in King of Prussia is a testament to the vibrant life sciences industry in this region,” noted State Representative Tim Briggs.
