Fort Washington’s TruMark Financial Credit Union Helps School Raise Money with Kiss-A-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser

TruMark credit union presented a $5,300 personal finance grant to Our Lady of Calvary School.

Kissing a pig might be an unusual approach to fundraising, but thanks to Fort Washington’s TruMark Financial Credit Union, it has certainly worked for Our Lady of Calvary School.

The school has enjoyed a four-year relationship with TruMark as part of its efforts to educate students on the importance of managing their money. However, the idea for the unique fundraising event came about after Principal Sister Mildred Chesnavage posed an unusual question to one of the school’s teachers.

“Would you kiss a pig to raise money for the school,” she asked, and science teacher Patricia Torpey replied “Yes!”

From there, the school secured donations to support the teacher’s encounter with the pig at TruMark Financial’s Kiss-A-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser at the Abington Art Center in September last year.

Our Lady of Calvary School and 14 other schools were each awarded grants of $5,300 for their participation in the highly successful fundraiser.
