Montgomery County’s Hatfield Township offers beautiful surroundings for a lower price than other similar areas in the North Penn School District, writes Alan J. Heavens for Philly.com.

“In this area, people usually search by school districts,” says Diane Williams, of Weichert Realtors in Blue Bell.

Hatfield, is located on Route 309 just after Montgomeryville, and has access to the regular commuter rail service to Center City through SEPTA’s Lansdale-Doylestown Line.

Founded in 1730, the township has deep roots in the region. It is also the home of some famous regional businesses including Hatfield Quality Meats, which is well known for its delicious Christmas Hams among many other fine products.

The area is also very affordable with an average price of $300,730. This compares very favorably with the average price in the nearby Upper Gwynedd and Montogomery townships which are $331,455 and $338,855 repectively.

According to Williams, the township currently has 34 active listings with townhouses starting at around $280,000. Single homes range from $479,000 to $519,000 for 2,500 to 3,370-square-feet.

“Sales in Hatfield are really moving, because there are now 40 pending sales,” noted Williams.
