Cunningham Piano’s Co-owner Rich Galassini: King of Prussia Expansion Draws New Customers

Calling King of Prussia Philadelphia's, "largest shopping district,” Rich Galassini, says many Cunningham customers prefer the company's new retail center.

A respected name in the piano business around the globe for over a century, Philadelphia’s Cunningham Piano has recently moved the bulk of its operations from Germantown to its newly opened showroom across from King of Prussia Mall, writes Victor Fiorillo for Philadelphia Magazine.

In the wake of the move, the piano maker’s co-owner, Rich Galassini, talked to Philadelphia Magazine about the new showroom, and the company’s most famous customers.

“Germantown was once the second-largest shopping district behind Center City in the greater Philadelphia region,” said Galassini, “and now the largest shopping district in the region is King of Prussia.”

While Cunningham Piano has sold its big showroom in Germantown, it has kept its restoration facility there. However, according to Galassini, many customers already prefer the new location.

“I just had a woman call me from Marlton and she decided to go all the way to King of Prussia instead of coming to Germantown,” he noted.

Over the years the company has had numerous famous clients, but the most notable was George Gershwin, who composed his Porgy and Bess on a Cunningham.

“More recently, Andre Watts and Marc Andre Hamelin are both customers,” added Galassini.
