A gorgeous local black-and-white border collie named Slick competed for Best in Show at the National Dog Show this Thanksgiving, writes Eric Devlin for The Times Herald.

The four-year-old pooch was featured on NBC‘s Thanksgiving Day special broadcast of “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina,” which has over 20 million viewers each year.  Slick is co-owned by Ricki Johnson, of Schwenksville, J. Frank Baylis, of Toms Brook, and Ronni Delay of Louisville.

While Slick was right up there with the best of the competitors, he was just edged out of the top spot by Gia the Greyhound who won the highest honor for this year.

Johnson said that Slick has been the most successful dog she has ever had, and the entire experience was tremendously exciting.

“It’s a lot of fun,” she said. “I love him no matter how he does. He’s just such a great dog.”
