For Mike Walsh, owner of The Early Vette Shop in Shohola, finding a fuel-injected quad-black 1961 Corvette in Collegeville was an astonishing discovery, writes Scotty Lachenauer for Super Chevy.

Laurel Black of Collegeville read about Walsh’s work in saving neglected Corvettes in the pages of Vette magazine. She decided to call the restorer to get an appraisal for her late mother Marilyn’s old Corvette, which had been languishing in the garage for 48 years.

After talking to and sending a few photographs to Walsh, he agreed to come down to Collegeville. He quickly knew he had made the right choice by coming.

“When I finally saw the car in person, for a Corvette guy like me, it was like discovering King Tut’s tomb,” he said. “It was that mesmerizing.”

It was clear that Walsh wanted the car, and Black was happy to see that the vehicle would go into the right hands. While the V8 engine was lightly stuck, Walsh managed to get it running and lovingly drove the historic Corvette out into the world again.
