Aqua America, the Bryn Mawr-based water utility, has promoted Marc Lucca from vice president of network to president of Aqua Pennsylvania, according to a staff report from Water World.

Lucca will take over the reins from Steve Tagert, who is retiring in December after nearly five decades with the company. The Aqua America subsidiary provides drinking water and wastewater services to nearly 1.4 million people in 32 counties throughout Pennsylvania.

Lucca, who has been with Aqua Pennsylvania for nine years, brings more than a quarter-century of water and wastewater operations and management experience to his new position. The holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering Technology from Temple, Lucca earned a Master of Engineering degree from Penn State, and finished completing his MBA at Drexel last year.

“Marc is an industry veteran with expertise in both network and production, making him well-qualified to lead Aqua Pennsylvania,” said Rick Fox, Aqua’s COO. “Marc and Steve will work together throughout the fall to ensure a seamless transition of this critical role.”
