She might not have won the crown, but WCU student and Dub Fitness studio in King of Prussia owner Erica Webster still came out as a big winner at this year’s Ms. Veteran America competition, writes Michaelle Bond for Philly.com.

Webster managed to raise $13,411 during the competition for Final Salute, the nonprofit that provides housing to homeless female veterans, which won her runner-up in the competition’s fundraising category.

Webster, herself an Army veteran and former Guantánamo Bay guard, took part in the finale of the competition that celebrates “the woman behind the uniform” with 24 other finalists, selected from 120 participants.

A full-time student at West Chester University and an owner of Dub Fitness studio in King of Prussia, Webster said that she was proud of her accomplishment.

“I win because I helped raise awareness and advocate for my fellow female veterans who put their lives on the line, served our country, came home to nothing, are dealing with terrible health care, and had been cast aside with no voice in our country and community,” she said. “I refuse to quit here.”
