The Old Mill Inn – nearly three centuries old after being built in 1724 in Hatboro – has been transformed by real estate developers Lynda Clauser and Jim Case into Louie’s Old Mill Italian restaurant, writes Gary Puleo for The Times Herald.

The restaurant is named after resident chef Louie Zweifach.

The herculean task of transforming the historic building on the corner of Horsham and York roads into a three-story, BYOB restaurant began three years ago and opened last spring as “cucina rustica.”

This is the married couple’s first restaurant, as they previously made their mark in the construction industry. However, they found themselves enthralled with the building despite it being perched on a flood plain.

“There had been several restaurants in here over the years, and every one of them had a flood,” said Clauser.

The pair still purchased the building, planning to rent it out to tenants, but according to Clauser, “we heard so many stories of people who were engaged here and married here, and with all the memories, we really decided it needed to be a restaurant again“.
