Two ribbon-cutting ceremonies recently took place in Souderton, officially introducing both a new beverage and baked-goods store to the area, writes Bob Keeler for The Lansdale Reporter.

Brothers Pete and Steve Scarperi officially cut the ribbon on North Penn Beverage at 39 Washington Avenue. The business itself, however, is not exactly new as it has been around for nearly 70 years.

Pete Scarperi transitioned from the restaurant business into retail beer and liquor sales by purchasing two liquor, beer, and wine stores in New Jersey, which he then sold to purchase North Penn Beverage.

“Being that I’m a hometown guy from Pennsylvania, I wanted to come back to Pennsylvania,” he said, characterizing his new business as a great location in a great town.

On the same day, Anita Palazzo Serratore officially opened Nita-Baker?, her delicious baked-goods store, although it unofficially opened at the beginning of May in the rear unit at 19 North Second Street.

The store offers baking products that are “old school,” as well as Italian and Polish baked goods, gluten-free items, wedding cakes, peanut butter cake, and other delicacies.

Prior to owning her store, Serratore sold her baked goods wholesale in the Warrington area, as well as at various nearby farmers markets.
