Former Harlem Globetrotter Corey Rich, a Norristown native and graduate of the now-defunct Kennedy-Kenrick High School, was once referred to by ESPN as “the most-amazing dribbler in the world.”

Rich, who played collegiately a few years at Division III Arcadia University in Glenside, now makes a living appearing as a guest at school assemblies, birthday parties, corporate events, and basketball camps.

His latest stop came last week in Norwalk, Ohio at Main Street Intermediate School, where students went berserk for the virtuoso’s performance, writes Cary Ashby of the Norwalk Reflector.

Main Street principal Dan Bauman had been excited for Rich’s program ever since the winter when he discovered the renowned ball-handler during an online search.

“Forget Steph Curry and all the rest, he’s considered the world’s greatest ball-handler,” Bauman told the students.

Besides playing for the Globetrotters, Rich has played for several professional basketball teams. Since he was the smallest player on the court at his size, he worked on his ball-handling abilities for an astonishing amount of time each and every day.

Rich opened his program Wednesday about respect, preparation, and anti-bullying by showing off his skills, bouncing multiple balls simultaneously.

Before talking about how he achieved his dream of being a Globetrotter, Rich taught the importance of respecting people by listening to them and not turning away from them or ignoring the person.

Rich shared with the students how a 5-foot-7 member of his college basketball team who had the worst skills of all his teammates became his best friend. He said his friend later became a pro basketball agent focusing on working with people who had respected him and didn’t bully him. He helped Rich play overseas in China.

“It’s important to treat everyone with respect,” Rich said.
