Melissa Page Peter,  founder of Mi Casita, the Spanish immersion preschool, is bringing her brand of multicultural learning to Ardmore, writes Laura Englehart for the Main Line Today.

The new Main Line location is the third Mi Casita to open since the original Philadelphia preschool first welcomed students in 2015.

Page Peter developed her love for the Spanish language from early childhood. She attended a school with a bilingual kindergarten and Spanish programs for everybody. Later, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and master’s degrees in business and education.

The curriculum at her schools focuses on project-based learning that lets children experience creative units such as underwater life, museum life, or dinosaurs.

“We follow the nationally recognized Creative Curriculum, which inspires authentic cultural experiences, activities, crafts, reading, and games“, said Page Peter.

Also, all the teachers are native Spanish speakers.

“Yet we don’t sacrifice educational goals at the expense of creating a Spanish-speaking environment”, she said. “We’re not teaching Spanish in the traditional sense. Rather, children are learning Spanish in tandem with hands-on life skills“.

The Ardmore school is expected to open in Spring 2020.
