Director of Business Development, Small & Mid-Market Surety

This position leads an underwriting team that includes surety territory managers and field underwriters that own the sales and underwriting relationship for small/middle market surety books of business. He/she develops and maintains business relationships with agencies and/or brokers for the purpose of sales growth and distribution expansion.Primary focus of this role is on broad territory management, which includes relationship, underwriting, and expense management.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in business, insurance, or a related field. He/she should have 10 years of commercial or contract surety or related underwriting experience. Significant business management and people leadership experience is desired. The person should be an expert in surety lines of business, ratings, customer environment, and markets.

Claims Manager

This position promotes and provides “On Your Side” customer service. He/she manages the analysis, review, and adjustment of commercial property damage, material damage, bodily injury, and/or other commercial lines claims requiring investigation, liability evaluation, commercial property damage evaluation, and negotiation. The person also manages the activities of defense counsel to expedite settlement and to control average loss cost and litigation expense.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree, and have at least eight years of commercial claims handling experience. Supervisory or project lead experience is preferred. He/she should have superior knowledge of best claims practices used to resolve the most serious and complex injury and property commercial claims.

Claims Specialist – Excess & Surplus Specialty

This position investigates, evaluates, and resolves claims and lawsuits of a more severe and complex nature, or from a specialty line or program of significant value to the organization. File inventory typically includes litigation, complex coverage issues, and average claim reserves of $200,000 up to $2 million. He/she may assist in the coaching, training, and mentoring of individual team members.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree, and have five years of experience as a Claim Analyst or five to ten years of insurance claims or comparable work experience. Prior experience in directing defense counsel is required. He/she should have experience with complex coverage issues and reinsurance reporting.
