Three New Restaurants Are Opening in Montgomery County This May — Here’s What to Know

Three restaurants are opening across Montgomery County in May, bringing Italian dining, tavern fare, and seafood cooking to the suburbs.

Montgomery County’s restaurant scene is heating up this May, and there’s something for just about every appetite, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Fort Washington is getting a white-tablecloth moment. Chef Jeffrey Power, formerly of Ambler’s recently closed Dettera, is opening Academy Grill on South Bethlehem Pike.

The Italian-inspired concept will feature seafood, steaks, and house-made pasta in the former Cantina Feliz space. Doors are expected to open late May.

Conshohocken is welcoming Rick’s Tavern on West Seventh Avenue. Chef Derek Davis, a key figure in the rise of Manayunk’s dining scene in the 1990s, is leading the kitchen at this Italian-leaning neighborhood spot.

Backed by the owners of Guppy’s, Rick’s will serve classic pies, house-made pastas, cocktails, and wine. It’s nostalgia with a polished edge, targeting a mid-to-late May debut.

Over in Horsham, Scratch Kitchen by Gallo’s is taking over the former Farm & Fisherman space on Horsham Road.

The team behind Gallo’s Seafood in Northeast Philadelphia brings a from-scratch, seafood-forward approach to the menu. Think comfort cooking with a neighborhood gathering place feel.

Three new spots. Three different vibes. All right here in Montgomery County.
