Skippack Township is opening the gates to a new kind of playground, designed so children of all abilities can play side by side, according to a press release.
Township officials will officially unveil the new inclusive playground at Palmer Park during a grand opening celebration on Friday, May 15 at 4:30 PM. The project was developed alongside Recreation Resource using Burke inclusive play equipment and focuses heavily on accessibility, sensory engagement, and intergenerational interaction.
Among the standout features is the Volta Inclusive Spinner, a ground-level accessible attraction designed to accommodate mobility devices while allowing children to play together regardless of physical ability. The playground also includes the Konnection Swing, which allows adults and children to swing face-to-face, and the Innova Rocking Bridge, which encourages teamwork, balance, and movement through collaborative play.
One of the centerpiece attractions is Burke’s 360 Loop Slide, designed with accessible handrails that allow children with varying physical abilities to independently experience the slide.
“This new playground represents Skippack Township’s commitment to creating spaces where every child and family member feels welcome and included,” said Karen Lynch, Chairperson for the Skippack Township Board of Supervisors.
The grand opening celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, music, giveaways, and free water ice for attendees.
