Lower Merion Liberty Girls Ice Hockey Crowned 2026 Flyers Cup Winners

The Lower Merion Liberty girls ice hockey team wins the 2026 Flyers Cup championship, bringing home the title after a thrilling season.

The Lower Merion Liberty girls ice hockey team has won the 2026 Flyers Cup championship and is bringing home the title after a thrilling season, reports Jenn Frederick for FOX 29 Philadelphia.

The team is a joint effort between Harriton High School and Lower Merion. This was the first title for the team, which made it even more special for the players.

One of the best players of the season was Ruby Gilligan, the goalie.

“She’s so good!” boasted her co-players.

Gilligan is an eighth grader, which could have easily been intimidated while playing alongside high school teammates, but she handled the whole event with ease.

“They’re all nice and welcoming,” said Gilligan.

By emphasizing playing as a team, the girls have built strong cohesion, a key factor in earning their first title.

“It’s so cliche to say, that, you know, when a team comes together, they persevere, they battle through the adversity, great things can happen,” said the team’s head coach.
