An Elkins Park-based real estate firm is continuing its expansion across the region with a new retail move in Philadelphia, writes Paul Schwedelson for The Philadelphia Business Journal.
Abrams Realty & Development has secured a major anchor tenant for a shopping center it acquired last year along Girard Avenue. The firm purchased the 42,000-square-foot property for $11 million in November, with plans to maintain and enhance its retail presence.
Now, that vision is taking shape with the addition of Philly Fitness, a growing local gym brand that will occupy a 23,000-square-foot space previously vacant for nearly a decade. The new location is expected to open in early May, bringing renewed energy to the site.
The move aligns with Abrams Realty’s broader strategy of repositioning retail centers with modern, experience-driven tenants, including wellness-focused concepts. The company, which owns more than 3 million square feet of retail space across the region, has increasingly focused on redeveloping properties into mixed-use destinations.
With additional projects underway, including potential mall redevelopments and Center City plans, Abrams continues to expand its footprint while adapting to shifting retail trends.
