Bradley Cooper, a Jenkintown native, is in talks to write and direct the Ocean’s Eleven prequel, with plans to co-star with Margot Robbie, writes Tommy McArdle for People.
The development follows filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung’s departure from the project. Should Cooper sign on to write and direct, the movie would remain on track for a 2026 shoot.
A prequel to George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s heist trilogy was first considered in 2022, when Margot Robbie and director Jay Roach announced plans for an original film set in the Ocean’s Eleven universe, which would take place in the 1960s.
The following year, producer Josey McNamara, co-founder of Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment, revealed that Ryan Gosling would co-star alongside Robbie after their success with Barbie.
Rumors surfaced in October 2025 that Cooper might co-star in the movie, just as it was reported that Chung was set to take over the project from Roach.
Should Cooper accept the roles, the film would become his fourth time directing, after A Star Is Born, Maestro, and Is This Thing On? Cooper served as both writer and lead actor on all three previous projects.
