For more than a century, Corropolese Italian Bakery and Deli has been a cherished Montgomery County institution, and the owners attribute its longevity to support from the local community, writes Nikki DeMentri for CBS News Philadelphia.
With several locations across the county, the eatery continues to bake its signature tomato pies, rolls, and cookies, alongside hoagies, cheesesteaks, and other slightly saucier offerings.
At the Norristown location, general manager Amanda Corropolese is the fifth generation of her family continuing the bakery’s legacy.
“It is crazy to think about,” she said. “I feel like there’s only a few of us left, bakery-wise, where we are thriving for this long.”
Corropolese added that the bakery continues to create new products to broaden its menu. She is also quick to thank the community for its ongoing support.
“We have some customers that have been coming in here since the beginning of time, and they know everybody by name, and we know them by name,” she said. “They get the same stuff every time they come in, and then we have people that are new.”
