Sofiia Ogerchuk of Lviv, Ukraine, received the 2026 Mother Josaphat Medal. The medal
represents the highest honor a student can receive while at Manor College. Ogerchuk is a junior Psychology major.

“This award is a big honor for me, especially because Mother Josaphat was Ukrainian and founded this community,” Ogerchuk said. “After so many years, I am deeply proud to be part of it and to serve my community, just as the Sisters of Saint Basil do.”

The Mother Josaphat Medal is a student award presented to a Manor College student who exhibits a responsible lifestyle evidenced through reverence, respect, and service. The institution has bestowed the award since 2007.

“Like many, Sofiia has faced challenges, yet I have rarely seen her without a smile,” said Jennifer Buechel, Ogerchuk’s advisor and Director of Psychology at Manor College. “She radiates positivity.”

Buchel added, “Watching her grow from a brave yet somewhat shy first-year student into a confident, passionate leader has been remarkable. Sofiia has done, and will continue to do, great things. She embodies a rare balance: the energy, confidence, and initiative of a true leader combined seamlessly with the kindness and humility that make people feel genuinely seen and cared for. Sofiia leads not only with purpose, but with heart.”

At Manor, Ogerchuk is a Presidential Ambassador, a Peer Mentor, and a member of the Mental Health Awareness Club, Secretary of the Rotaract Club, and co-captain of the Dance Team. Ogerchuk is an international student who came to Manor College from Ukraine following Russia’s invasion. As one nominator wrote, “Sofiia treasures her Ukrainian heritage. While she worries daily about her family at home, she is always willing to help raise awareness about Ukraine and its people. Sofiia has overcome her shyness and is willing to speak publicly about the topic.”

Ogerchuk prioritizes service to others throughout many facets of her life. She works with Compassion International, a letter-writing program where writers connect with children in need across the world to offer encouragement and provide support. Ogerchuk also volunteers with the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great for their annual Pilgrimage.

“Sofiia is an incredible person to have as a classmate, community member, and friend,” one nominator wrote. “Sofiia always greets everyone with a smile and always asks for help.” In addition, four other students were named finalists for the Mother Josaphat Medal.

Lauren Brown (St. Hubert’s Catholic High School for Girls, Philadelphia)

Lauren Brown is a senior at Manor College studying Criminal Justice. Brown is a Presidential Ambassador, captain of the women’s soccer team, and a member of the women’s track and basketball teams. She was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. One nominator wrote, “Lauren is a genuine student leader who is well-liked around campus by students and employees alike. She has a strong passion for Manor College, and others often lean on her for support and advice.”

Immanuel ‘Manny’ Roach (Life Center Academy, Medford, N.J.)

Immanuel “Manny” Roach is a junior Sport Management major at Manor College. Roach is a member of the Men’s Basketball team, a Resident Assistant, and a Presidential Ambassador. One nominator described Roach as a “very well-rounded young man who always has an upbeat personality. He is a voice for students and isn’t afraid to speak up to leadership on their behalf.”

Jacob Torres (Cedar Creek High School, Egg Harbor, N.J.)

Jacob Torres is a senior Sport Management major at Manor College. At the institution, Torres is a Peer Mentor, a tutor, and a member of Manor College’s baseball team. One nominee wrote that Torres “has an innate desire to pay forward kindness and has an innate ability to forge genuine connections with students and staff.

Amiyah Trammer (Bodine High School for International Affairs, Philadelphia)

Amiyah Trammer is a junior studying Child Development at Manor College. Trammer serves as a Resident Assistant at Manor College and works at a daycare in addition to her responsibilities at the college. One nominee wrote, “She has a wonderful, calming nature that keeps the peace. She genuinely cares about the students’ happiness and goes above and beyond to help.”
