Norristown native Quinn Sullivan may be sidelined with a torn ACL, but his presence around the Philadelphia Union hasn’t faded, writes Jonathan Tannenwald for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder missed last season’s playoff run, a tough break after being named the team’s Fan Player of the Year. While the injury kept him off the field, Sullivan stayed close to the team, rehabbing at the club’s facilities and remaining a vocal part of the locker room.
Sullivan, now in his sixth professional season, has embraced a growing leadership role with the Union’s young roster. With time away from game-day pressure, he’s focused on supporting teammates, helping new players adjust, and setting an example from the sidelines. He did all this while working steadily toward a return.
That support has extended beyond the club. When the U.S. men’s national team trained locally last fall, head coach Mauricio Pochettino and his staff checked in on Sullivan’s recovery, reinforcing his place in the program’s long-term picture.
While his return to game action likely won’t come until after the World Cup break this summer, Sullivan remains optimistic. He’s made it clear he’d welcome the chance to become one of the faces of the franchise.
