Anglers from across the region gathered in Oaks for the Philadelphia Fishing Show, which was held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center from January 9 to January 11, reports Nick Iadonisi for 6abc.
“It’s all fishing, and that’s what we pride ourselves on,” said show promoter Dave DeGennaro. “Saltwater, freshwater, fly fishing, to big game fishing.”
The festival brought some of the best and most innovative equipment to Oaks for visitors to browse and shop around.
“To break cabin fever,” said DeGennaro. “To get the best deals, to talk to destination places where you could travel and fish that you always wanted to do. You could do all these things online, it’s just so much better face to face.”
The festival even features a child pond, which allows visitors to catch trout using a rod during the show.
“I’m a fisherman since I was a very little kid, so it just keeps me in the circle and the world of fishing,” said DeGennaro. “You know, January, February, March, the elements sometimes are not in your favor to go out, so this is the best next thing.”
