Soon, Montco residents may not need to drive to Conshohocken to get their IKEA fill.
The Swedish furniture store, which houses its U.S. headquarters in Conshohocken, is testing virtual versions of its home furnishings inside the popular gaming platform Roblox, according to Brian Warmoth from Digital Commerce 360.
The pilot, running January 22 through February 5, places IKEA products inside a Roblox-based experience called “Welcome to Bloxburg,” where users can interact with digital furniture in a virtual Fancy Furniture Store.
The test is currently limited to users in Sweden and Australia, but it reflects a broader push by IKEA to explore how customers engage with its products beyond physical stores and traditional ecommerce. IKEA says the experiment is designed to evaluate customer interaction, creativity, and engagement in immersive digital environments.
As part of the pilot, IKEA is also blending real-world and digital experiences. Shoppers visiting physical IKEA stores in those countries can scan QR codes to unlock additional virtual items, encouraging exploration both in-store and online.
Company leaders describe the initiative as a learning opportunity rather than a full rollout, with insights expected to shape future digital strategies. IKEA joins other major brands experimenting on Roblox, including Walmart and e.l.f. Beauty.
