HR staff from CCRES will be available on Thursday, Dec. 11, 9 AM to 12 Noon, at the Boyertown Area Multi-Service, 200 Spring Street in Boyertown, to talk about working in a Boyertown Area School District school as a Paraprofessional.

Paraprofessionals are needed for autistic support, emotional support, life skills support, and learning support in the Boyertown District’s Middle School East, Middle School West, Boyertown Elementary School, Colebrookdale Elementary School, Gilbertsville Elementary School, New Hanover Elementary School, and Washington Elementary School.

Pay rates are $18 an hour for Paraprofessionals assigned to specialized classrooms and $16 an hour for Paraprofessionals assigned to learning support and interventions.

Responsibilities of a Paraprofessional:

  • Providing assistance to students with special needs who have IEPs or 504 plans.
  • Reinforcing learning concepts and skills.
  • Working with students individually or in small groups.
  • Working with students on organizational skills, guiding students in activities, and monitoring student progress.
  • Managing students’ behavior and ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Supervising students during lunch, arrivals/dismissals, and other non-instructional areas.
  • Directly supporting students at the direction of the classroom teacher and the building Principal.

Requirements of a Paraprofessional:

  • High school diploma and completion of Paraprofessional competency training OR
    • Two years of post-secondary education (48 college credits), Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting – preferred.

Credentialing:

* Paid clearances & TB screening!

(Clearances current within 12 months)

  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance.
  • PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance.
  • PA Department of Education FBI – Use code 1KG6XN.
  • TB Screening – current within 3 months.
  • Education Documentation – Diploma OR Official Transcripts.
