Philadelphia Magazine has released its annual “Most Influential Philadelphians” list, and several names with Montgomery County ties stand tall among the city’s movers and shakers.
Governor Josh Shapiro leads the local charge, earning recognition for his poised leadership and growing national profile. The Abington native is turning heads even as state budget battles test his reputation as a bipartisan dealmaker.
Bala Cynwyd billionaire Jeff Yass, co-founder of Susquehanna International Group, continues to shape state and national politics through record-setting campaign donations.
Sports and civic leadership are also well-represented: Jeffrey Lurie, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and Wynnewood resident, is praised for his $50 million gift to Penn and CHOP to advance autism research.
Meanwhile, Bryn Mawr’s John Middleton, managing partner of the Phillies, is lauded for hands-on ownership and major investments in South Philly’s stadium district.
Also on the list is David Corenswet, the Lower Merion-raised actor who donned the Superman cape on the big screen. Montgomery County’s creative talent can soar just as high as its business and political clout.
