Ambler’s downtown continues to thrive as new businesses and creative entrepreneurs embrace its walkable charm and strong sense of community, writes Erica Lamberg for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Among the latest arrivals is Camaraderie, a new yoga studio founded by Maura Manzo, who previously ran Yoga Home in Conshohocken.
“I was looking for a vibrant, walkable downtown, rooted in community,” said Manzo, who was drawn to Ambler by its local co-op, Weavers Way, and its mix of restaurants, arts, and small shops. “There’s a balance of restaurants, arts and culture, and shopping that creates a wonderful, rich community and attracts people.”
Ambler’s business district has evolved from its 18th-century mill town roots into a destination filled with boutiques, eateries, and creative spaces. The borough has preserved much of its original architecture, recently passing an ordinance to ensure new construction reflects its historic aesthetic.
That blend of preservation and progress is attracting new ventures like Ridge Hall, a food hall and retail hub with 10 vendors and a second-floor venue. Ambler is becoming a destination town according to founder Daniel J. DeCastro.
From yoga studios to pasta shops and Peruvian cuisine, Ambler’s Main Street energy shows no sign of slowing.
