Ambler is once again closing Butler Avenue to cars and opening it to thousands of revelers as Oktoberfest takes over downtown this weekend, writes Rachel Ravina for The Reporter.
Now in its third decade, the festival has grown from a small fall gathering into a two-day tradition that brings together vendors, live entertainment, and Ambler’s vibrant small business community. “It has evolved and become its own entity,” said Ambler Main Street Manager Elizabeth Wahl Kunzier. “Now it’s Oktoberfest weekend.”
The celebration kicks off Friday at 6 PM and continues until 9:30 PM before resuming Saturday at noon. More than 60 vendors and food trucks will line Butler Avenue, joined by a beer garden and activities for all ages. The Phillies’ postseason run will also be part of the fun, with organizers spotlighting “Red October” on Saturday.
Live music will set the tone at the Cavalier parking lot stage, with Mas Tequila and Uptown Band performing Friday. Saturday’s lineup includes Valentinia Sounds, Matt Bednarsky, Hindsight, Main Street Band, and the Vincent James Band.
With sunny skies and 70-degree temperatures forecast, Wahl Kunzier expects crowds similar to past years—around 20,000 visitors. “It’s a great way to enjoy your community,” she said.
