Oaks-Based Naturaz Expands to H-E-B Stores in Texas, Looking to Raise $1M to Fuel Growth

Naturaz, an Oaks hair care company, will expand to Texas supermarket giant H-E-B, marking its first market beyond the Mid-Atlantic region.

Naturaz, a hair care company based in Oaks, will expand to Texas supermarket giant H-E-B in November, marking its first market beyond the Mid-Atlantic region, writes Abigail Chachoute for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Mumbi Dunjwa, owner and founder, said that customers will find Naturaz vegan hair products in over 400 locations. Since its 2018 launch, the brand has been available in 37 stores across the Mid-Atlantic, including ShopRite supermarkets.

“We’re making clean beauty accessible to many women and their families,” said Dunjwa.

The company is raising $1 million, half through equity investments and half through grants and debt financing, to fuel demand, expand brand awareness, and expand its workforce.

Naturaz anticipates product demand of $2 million to $4 million. Dunjwa emphasized that H-E-B’s popularity with health-conscious consumers and its reach to 8 million shoppers each week in Texas and Mexico provides a prime opportunity to attract new customers.

Dunjwa noted that the company’s customer base spans the United States and multiple international markets, and although specific figures were not disclosed, revenue is projected to rise by 550 percent from last year.
