The Commonwealth has secured a $4.1 million investment from Levittown-based Apozeal Pharmaceuticals for the expansion of its Bucks County operations.
The Shapiro Administration is supporting the drug manufacturer’s project with a $1.1 million state investment. The expansion will create at least 70 new, high-quality jobs over the next three years and ensure retention of 22 existing positions.
Apozeal owns 11 FDA-approved Abbreviated New Drug Application products as well as several over-the-counter items for cough, cold, pain and fever. Currently, the company produces four of the eleven ADNA products.
This expansion will allow the company to add new production lines at its 70,000-square-foot facility in Levittown, enabling production of the remaining seven ADNA products and other over-the-counter items.
“Pennsylvania is a leader in biotech and life sciences with a talented workforce, access to key markets, and significant laboratory infrastructure,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “Apozeal’s continued growth in our Commonwealth strengthens this legacy while creating more opportunity for Pennsylvanians.”
The Department of Community and Economic Development proposed a funding package to Apozeal Pharmaceuticals, including a $925,000 Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan, a $150,000 Pennsylvania First Grant and a $100,000 WEDnet grant for worker training.
