Norristown Names Michael Trail as Its New Police Chief

The Norristown Police Department named Lansdale's Chief of Police Michael Trail as its new chief, his appointment taking effect on August 19.

The Norristown Police Department has named the current Lansdale Chief of Police Michael Trail as its new police chief, with his appointment taking effect on August 19, according to a staff report from NBC10 Philadelphia.

Trail has 33 years of experience on the force, a level of service and leadership that was one of the major factors in his selection by the Norristown Municipal Council. The new chief said he wants to serve the people and always do the right thing for the community.

He will officially start his new position in the fall, and in the meantime, Norristown Police Lt. James Angelucci will continue to serve as acting police chief.

Trail is replacing Jacqueline Bailey-Davis, who resigned her position as Chief of Police at the end of last year. Her resignation comes about a month after she was placed on administrative leave for what local leaders described as a “personal issue.”
